The issue occurs with all pdf-s and all terminals (gnome-terminal, xterm
or emacs). I experimented a bit, and evince seems to implement the
necessary feature only partially. I can double click on a word in evince
which copies it to the clipboard, and I can paste with the middle button
(in either terminal or emacs). However, this only works for copying a
single word. The standard functionality is to copy text to the
clipboard, once one (single) clicks on the selection (try this in gnome-
terminal for example). As such, evince does not allow you top copy more
than one word, as when one double clicks the selection is lost and one
copies only the word over which the double click has occurred.

I hope this rather length description has clarified the situation.
Please let me know if more information is necessary.
