Because in most FOSS projects when a developer sets the priority of a
bug to low is usually means something like "I don't care about
it"/"Don't feel like working on it" and it then tends to be forgotten.

But following your logic: if priority is irrelevant, why set it to low?

I'm glad to hear this is bug is being worked on and I am looking forward
to seeing the result soon.
