Hi all, I have a similar problem under vnc, the gnome theme is messed up and if I open the appearance window, it will crash session. The following work around works for me: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/199245 by disabling keyboard plugin with gconf-editor at /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/keyboard. The same happens under fedora 11 too and the workaround also works for fedora 11.
