Errr... I see I'm not in the majority here, but eyh, I can still give my opinion... ;) Two major principles in HMI ergonomics are : - to let the user control the GUI, - to provide users with feedback so that they remain conscious of the system state.
It seems to me that applying this principle here would not lead to redirecting the window to a new place (so that the user keeps control about what happens), but to display a message telling him the /media/usb_blahblah has been unmounted/ejected/whatever.
