I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 with gnome-screensaver 2.24.0-0ubuntu6, I'm attaching the output from /var/log/auth. 'm experiencing the same issue, this is weird because it happens since a few days ago, I have never had problems before with Jaunty. It looks like I'm trying the wrong password but as you can see from the output I am able to log into the console.
