Ah, i didn't realize that. When I enabled it, it didn't work at first, but then after I restarted the program, it worked.
I'm tempted to argue that message filters should be on by default for mailboxes besides "On This Computer". These days, what proportion of Evolution's target userbase is recieving mail in /var/spool/mail, as opposed to via POP/IMAP/Exchange? I guess there's messages from cron and such... But I digress...
