I've noticed that too. Totem crashes with .mpg fifes riped with AcidRip maybe cause it uses MPlayer encoding libs (or mencode if you prefer).
Works fine with other .mpg files. I've not tried yet but I thing it hapens with files encoded with subtitels apart (in other file) an option of AcidRip that may be a good idea if you are going to edit the file with other tools But it seems to bug Totem that doesn't suport subtitels.
