Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Brightnesscontrol doesn't work in Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 (32bit) on an Acer
Travelmate 6592. Neither hotkeys nor the gnomeapplet can change
brightness. While beeing in Grub brightness can be changed but after
starting to load Ubuntu the brightnesslevel can't be changed any more.
Unlike the other reported bugs brightnesscontroll doesn't work in any
direction.
