I got the same bug: Sorry, the Jockey backend crashed. Please file a bug at: ubuntu-bug jockey-common Trying to recover by restarting backend. I am using AMD phenom II 940 on a M3A78 motherboard and the latest edition of Ubuntu - Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope and an NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400 graphics card I have been able to reproduce this error several times now. A restart does not help. Under system -> administration I can see Nvidia X server settings but it says drivers missing " You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server."
