Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libnautilus-extension-dev
When using my transcend Jetflash V60 4GB usb stick, it would never mount the drive, although it showed recognised it, icon appeared on Desktop etc. When I clicked on it to open (mount) it, the system said error , cannot mount drive. Note that the drive was ok on windows computers, and I chkdisk 'ed it a few times, but ubuntu failed to read/open it. during this time Ubuntu was opening other USB drives flawlessly I checked the USB dirive in gparted and it appeared unformated "unknown", in terminal it appeared to be FAT 32.... Eventually i gave up after screwing around in terminal for a total of 4 - 6hrs over a few weeks (i am a ubuntu beginner) And I copied my data off and reformated it with Gparted to FAT 32, Nautilus would still not recognise it!! So I reformated it to FAT 16 and at last I can open/mount it!!! This has been a major pain in the ass, so I would say its a farily important issue (for beginner users at least) I had this problem on Ibex and now on Jaunty - i am using a Sony Vaio - VGN SR16GN 3gb ram, centrino 2.2GH duo I am using upgrade packages via package manager - i upgraded on aprox 5th May When I plugged the USB in, i expected to beable to open it, instead it appeared in nautilus under places and an icon on desktop but i couldnt open (mount) it ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: nautilus trancendjetflash usb usbmount -- Nautilus fails to mount/open Trancend Jetflash USB https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374298 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
