I have similar experience with some other games, like ManiaDrive, which are probably blocking all keyboard actions by self, so the screensaver daemon cannot catch them. My idea is to add some kind of an user- writable list of applications, in which gnome-screensaver could check, whether the are/aren't running.
This could be handy also for watching movies with xine/mplayer/totem etc.. Anyone can add that feature?
