I can confirm the issue. I have Jaunty on an Acer aspire 9305 which uses the nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio chip. When running VoIP applications, I use a Logitech USB headset. Adjusting the volume using the controls on the headset adjusts the volume of the laptop's speaker (mostly I'm using twinkle as my VoIP client). Muting using the control on the headset mutes the headset.
