I also have this issue here on an intel mobile 915GM/GMS/910GM. I confirm that moving .gconf to .gconf.old solves partially this problem. Partially because when I scroll-down firefox is rather jerky and makes cpu fan speed-up (cpu intense task). Even when moving windows around.. Could this be to a missing 2D acceleration ?
