Mark, about the shortcut to change tabs it's not doable without breaking other feature as replied before, that's why it has not be done by upstream nor for dapper. We could force the change, but I'm not sure users and upstream are going to like having GTK inconsistant between the different distributions and between the different versions of Ubuntu. Anyway that's not the topic of that bug ...
