Hi Jon, I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS/PCI/SSE2, and use the latest nvidia- glx-180 drivers (180.37). I'm not quite sure about the specific monitor model, but it's has a 1280x800 pixel resolution.
I tried loading a video sized 1280x720, and noticed that pressing "1" wouldn't resize the window (apparently there's no place) but pressing "0" would give an acceptable size.
