Hoping to move this on from "incomplete" status, I can confirm that:
With Ubuntu 8.04.2, Brasero 0.7.1 the option "Leave the disc open to add other files later" is available and it does what it says. With Ubuntu 8.10, Brasero 0.8.2 the same option is greyed out. Both with the non-64 bit version, running on AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+.
