This happens for me too on jaunty with all my cameras (EOS 50D, 350D, Ixus 70, haven't tried my Nokia phone)
It seems to happen because f-spot and (gvfs? nautilus?) both want to use the device when it's plugged in. gvfs to "mount" it, f-spot to import from it.
