Just another hint that just happened: I've tried to unmount the sftp folder and the desktop was frozen (only, other app widows would work normally) then all icons simply disappeared. Killing the sftp process made reappear the desktop icons.
So maybe it a problem rather linked to the display of the sftp volume on the desktop.
