Install ubuntu dapper. Install a qt-based application, e.g. amarok

Note huge fonts, compared to those of gnome.
This might be a more general bug: unification of settings across Gnome
and KDE, but I guess this is the domain of freedesktop.org.
The default for QT applications should be more sensible, or match the
Gnome settings in place at the time of installation of the first QT
application.
