Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 ------------------------------------- Power Manager 2.24.0 ------------------------------------- Hardware: IBM ThinkPad R40 ------------------------------------- I am using two batteries with the laptop - one internal and one additional that plugs into CD-ROM bay. While running on battery power the additional battery discharges first (it's OK) but when it reaches critical low level the power manager hibernates the computer (correct action on low battery, also ok) instead of switching to the second battery (here is the problem, very annoying). Also the time remaining is mostly correct while running on one battery (any one) but totally wrong when two of them installed. i.e. while running on the additional battery the time remaining indicator shows correct time for one battery but not overall time remaining. If the second battery removed time for the internal battery shown correctly, but if the second battery installed the remaining time shows some value that represents absolutely nothing. another issue, that if second battery installed before the main while running on AC adapter the additional battery is not recognized with power manager and therefore not charged. :~$ gnome-power-bugreport.sh Distro version: DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.10 DISTRIB_CODENAME=intrepid DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.10" Kernel version: 2.6.27-9-generic g-p-m version: 2.24.0 HAL version: 0.5.11 System manufacturer: missing System version: missing System product: missing AC adapter present: yes Battery present: yes Laptop panel present: yes CPU scaling present: yes Battery Information: battery.charge_level.current = 18850 (0x49a2) (int) battery.charge_level.design = 34560 (0x8700) (int) battery.charge_level.last_full = 19180 (0x4aec) (int) battery.charge_level.percentage = 98 (0x62) (int) battery.charge_level.rate = 2881 (0xb41) (int) battery.is_rechargeable = true (bool) battery.model = 'IBM-02K6645' (string) battery.present = true (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_charging = true (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_discharging = false (bool) battery.remaining_time = 412 (0x19c) (int) battery.reporting.current = 18850 (0x49a2) (int) battery.reporting.design = 34560 (0x8700) (int) battery.reporting.last_full = 19180 (0x4aec) (int) battery.reporting.rate = 2881 (0xb41) (int) battery.reporting.technology = 'Li-ion' (string) battery.reporting.unit = 'mWh' (string) battery.serial = ' 1057' (string) battery.technology = 'lithium-ion' (string) battery.type = 'primary' (string) battery.vendor = 'SANYO' (string) battery.voltage.current = 12528 (0x30f0) (int) battery.voltage.design = 10800 (0x2a30) (int) battery.voltage.unit = 'mV' (string) battery.charge_level.current = 60000 (0xea60) (int) battery.charge_level.design = 63360 (0xf780) (int) battery.charge_level.last_full = 60090 (0xeaba) (int) battery.charge_level.percentage = 99 (0x63) (int) battery.charge_level.rate = 0 (0x0) (int) battery.is_rechargeable = true (bool) battery.model = 'IBM-02K7054' (string) battery.present = true (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_charging = false (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_discharging = false (bool) battery.reporting.current = 60000 (0xea60) (int) battery.reporting.design = 63360 (0xf780) (int) battery.reporting.last_full = 60090 (0xeaba) (int) battery.reporting.rate = 0 (0x0) (int) battery.reporting.technology = 'Li-ion' (string) battery.reporting.unit = 'mWh' (string) battery.serial = ' 11' (string) battery.technology = 'lithium-ion' (string) battery.type = 'primary' (string) battery.vendor = 'FLT' (string) battery.voltage.current = 16618 (0x40ea) (int) battery.voltage.design = 14400 (0x3840) (int) battery.voltage.unit = 'mV' (string) GNOME Power Manager Process Information: navado 5160 0.0 1.3 32612 17908 ?
