Hi,
I have since switched laptops and am now in Ubuntu 8.10. I just tried to replicate the bug and was not able to. At the same time, I am not able to get it to go to standby when I close my laptop. There must be something different between this laptop and the Compaq that I had the issue with. I will keep trying to see how to get it to go into stand by again, with the closing of the laptop and will send a note when I find it again.
