As stated this bug doesn't address the issue I found. This one only adresses if autospellcheck is remembered. Mine addressed that the wrong English dictionary was used and as well as requesting a spellcheck the user had to specifically select the dictionary to use for every gedit sessions. Remembering the state of autocheck must be matched by remembering which dictionary to use.
