Just to add to the confusion... I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 which (appears to) Hibernate perfectly well but never Restores - just goes through the normal boot cycle as if I had performed a Shutdown, no errors that I can detect, either during the Hibernate or the Restore phases.
It has done this since 8.04.
