I'm not sure what you mean, the desktop trash doesn't have tooltips I compiled gnome from source and it also has the same problem, as the gnome-vfs doesn't trigger the volume_unmount_started_callback however I didn't ( as I have no idea how ) integrate it (the compiled from source gnome ) with hal.
