The Poppler developers have already fixed the bug. I have applied the upstream patch to Jaunties Poppler package and this solves the problem. A debdiff is attached. Please someone with appropriate upload privileges uploadthe fixed Poppler package to Jaunty and to Intrepid -proposed.
