** Description changed:

  1. runing Ubuntu 8.10 - the Intrepid Ibex, with backports and proposed
repository on.
  2. apt-cache policy nautilus
  nautilus:
    Instalat: 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu1
   3. When I first installed the system, I could change the wallpaper via gnome
control center. Since one point, when I click on an wallpaper, only the color
behind the wallpaper changes, not the wallpaper it self. The wallpaper is not
drawn, so what I see is the gradient or the solid color (whatever I set up via
gnome control center) behind the wallpaper. I have enabled the compiz wallpaper
plug-in and no change. If i go in gconf-editor end un-thick show_desktop in
apps/nautilus/preferences I can see the compiz wallpaper, but no icons. If I
thick again show_desktop the compiz wallpaper dissapers, the icons are back and
I can see again only the color behind the wallpaper.
- I triied restartin X via ctr-alt-backspace, also killall nautilus but nothing
changes.
- I am runing without desktop for several weeks now.
