Hmmm, try Synaptics for finding and installing libdvdcss2, let it connect to the net and hunt out all the dependencies for you. Also a quick glimpse through Bug #137527 might help, i'm not sure about a lot of the detail here and i'm clearly not as techie as you as i didn't understand most of what you were saying there.
