Hi,

I've got a Sony Vaio SZ650N/C with the same problem. I am running the
AMD64 version of Hardy. I've done an acpi_listen and closed and reopend
the lid - there are absolutely no events listed there, nor in the
acpid.log. I've chatted with the HAL folks, thinking that the problem
might be there, but also doing an 'lshal -m' and closing/opening the lid
yields nothing there as well.

I've done an evtest /dev/events/input6 (which reports itself as a 'Lid
Button"), and still see no events there when I colse/repoen, so I think
it's somewhere else in the system.

Also, just for completeness. I put some log lines at the lidbtn script
so that I could see if it was ever being called, and it's not.

Oh, and one more thing.

Curiously, though, I've noticed that if I query the

/proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/state

It does shift from open to closed and back again when I close/open the
laptop lid. Just no event fires.

What kind of further information can I give you to help debug this
problem?
