*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 39098 *** The hardware+software both moving was introduced (by me) before the unbalanced GNOME mixer movement was introduced.
For the most part it still 'mostly works'. eg. you press and up button and the volume goes up (and even a menu shows you that it went up) and you press a down button and the volume goes down (admittedly massively).
