I have used two other video players (avidemux-gtk and vlc) with the same
video and both stop at the same position in the video. So the problem
comes from the file: the video must be corrupted. The play resets to the
beginning because I have the "repeat mode" on.

So the problem is that totem (and the other video players I have tested)
does not yield an error when the video is corrupted: in my case, the
video is detected as a 1h30 video but the play stops at 8 min 43
seconds. The user does not know why: is it a bug from totem? or does it
come from the video file?   >>>There is simply no error message.

This bug report is not relevant anymore and it may be closed.
