Because of fglrx-related problems, I downgraded the kernel to2.6.24-19.21. I didn't delete any configuration files or anything, just purged the 2.6.24-21.23 and installed the 19.21 one. As a result, Totem works fine. Which makes me think that it's not only a configuration issue - there should be something else going on. I'll be glad to provide any additional information you think is needed.
