Doesn't fix it for me. I wonder how many other directories with stale stuff are still an issue -- people have suggested beagle, nfs, but ultimately socket reads and network filesystem reads can take a long time to time out, but it should not hang an application that is not reading/writing form/to them. So it's a bug in gtk.
