Public bug reported: Affects: metacity firefox (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Rejected
Description: When launching Firefox for the first time (no previous instances running), the new window gets focus as expected. However, when a new instance is launched, it does not get the focus, and appears behind any other active windows that happened to be on the desktop before. This may lead to confusion to new users, to whom it may not be obvious where the newly launched firefox window has gone. On the other hand, an otherwise unnecessary extra mouse click is needed to select the window and bring focus to it. Steps to reproduce: 1.- Launch GNOME terminal 2.- Launch Firefox 3.- The firefox window appears on top of GNOME terminal as expected. 4.- Select the GNOME terminal window. 5.- Launch a new instance of Firefox 3.- Watch the new Firefox window appear behind GNOME terminal and flashing in the window list. -- Firefox windows do not get focus when launched https://launchpad.net/bugs/41623 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
