Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem
This is probably caused by the extremely old version of ffmpeg that Ubuntu uses. It is more than a year outdated. I have also seen many other videos, especially h.264 files and Windows Media Video files that have artifacts. The artifacts are not present under other distributions such as Slackware (using Xine). By the way, I am using Ubuntu 8.04 with the latest versions of all packages, including the proposed updates.
