After moving those files away, chaging sounds cards works fine. Below is the
info you asked for, if it's still interesting.

> asoundconf is-active; echo $?

Always returns 0

> asoundconf get defaults.pcm.card

The name of whichever sound card is chosen

> asoundconf list

AudioPCI
V8237

asoundrc:
# ALSA library configuration file

# Include settings that are under the control of asoundconf(1).
# (To disable these settings, comment out this line.)
</home/doc/.asoundrc.asoundconf>

.asoundrc.asoundconf:
# ALSA library configuration file managed by asoundconf(1).
#
# MANUAL CHANGES TO THIS FILE WILL BE OVERWRITTEN!
#
# Manual changes to the ALSA library configuration should be implemented
# by editing the ~/.asoundrc file, not by editing this file.
!defaults.pcm.card AudioPCI

Both those files seem normal (not missing user-write permission or anything)
