Sebastien Bacher wrote "that's not a rhythmbox bug" so unfortunate that whoever's bug it is, it seems it ONLY affects rhythmbox. Audacious works fine with ALSA, as does mpg321, mplayer, xine, totem and mpd; sorry, I have no other sound-players to test.
