I would like to confirm the reported problem with the same camera and driver on both 32- and 64bit Hardy. The very same artefacts appear on Ekiga's video output window. The camera delivers correct pictures when operated with "luvcview -f yuv".
I tested Ekiga with a Philips PCVC740K (0471:0311) and an Acer CrystalEye (064e:a101) and both work correctly. The difference that I found between those cameras is that the SPC 620 supports only 640x480 and 320x240 modes whereas the other models offer more modes, at least 160x120 (as reported by "luvcview -L") .
