You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Right click desktop > change background > theme > customize > selected
items and change the color. It's not applied. (It can be made work by
going to window border tab and selecting some other option.)
PS. It would be really handy if all applications would spell out their
name so it would be instantly obvious to everybody what application
we're discussing... might be gnome-appearance or gnome-control-center or
something else in this case.
