Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
If a user wants to make a symbolic link to somewhere in a directory where they don't have write permissions or to a file/directory on a fat32 partition they have to do it through the terminal. Say I want to create a link to /windows/My\ Documents which is on a fat32 drive or /var/www. I can't right click and select "Make link" as this would need to write a symbolic link into that directory. Instead selecting "Make link" should prompt for a directory to place the link in so that it can be placed in the users home directory. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: Incomplete ** Summary changed: - Should be able to make link to files without write permissions or fat32/ntfs dir in home directory + Should be able to make link to files in directory without write permissions or in fat32 directory in home directory -- Should be able to make link to files in directory without write permissions or in fat32 directory in home directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
