Take a package where the installation is not working correctly and run the .postinst as described before to notice what gives the error, that's likely an issue on your box or we would have received other bugs about it -- installation breaks with 'subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 245' https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39812
