Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets
After trying to install Google Earth, the Gnome clock applet kept crashing. I tried to re-install the Gnome panel but it failed - the error message indicated that the package list for evolution-common was empty and that it therefore could not upgrade the package. On a subsequent attempt to run the Synaptic Package manager, it crashed - this report.
