In Dapper, gnome-screensaver is a dependency of ubuntu-desktop and so it cannot be uninstalled without consequenses. Right now I have both installed; this is a sub-optimal solution. I would recommend that the Ubuntu developers either make their own reduced version of xscreensaver or transplant this feature into Ubuntu's version of gnome-screensaver. As it exists now, gnome-screensaver is oversimplified to the point of being barely usable. -- no 'Settings' button in gnome-screensaver https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/22007 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
