I have been seeing this sometimes with evolution in Hardy, before and after release, currently with version 2.22.1.1-0ubuntu2. Usually it happens immediately after reboot and logging in: evolution hangs when started through the session manager. It hangs right at the start of listing the mail folders. When I kill and restart evolution proper, I have the same result. Killing evolution-alarm-notify as such does not help, but killing all the remaining evolution-* processes does.
