Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor
When trying to install software the administration application does not load to allow the installation. It happens randomly whether I use the add/remove application or install directly from a downloaded file. Sometimes everything works fine and other times it just wont ever get to the point of asking my password to install. The add/remove application is just sitting there waiting for the administration application to validate the password. I have to physically turn off power to try again. Yesterday it happened when I tried to install updates. Today, updates worked fine but I am trying to install 7zip and gstreamer plug ins for MP3 support. I installed that on my other computer without trouble at all. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron Intel Celeron 633MHz, 256MB ram ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Fri May 9 21:18:16 2008 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-system-monitor Package: gnome-system-monitor 2.22.1-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-system-monitor Uname: Linux 2.6.24-16-generic i686 ** Affects: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- administration application will not start for software installation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228868 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
