ffm: No, gnome-www-browser uses the debian alternatives system. It has nothing to do with gnome.
seb128: There's nothing wrong with using deb specific solutions, you're derived from Debian. What's not ideal is that it's system rather than user specific, and not integrated with gnome. This bug is about the fact that gnome-vfs is using a broken default, that will not work on all systems.
