About the Gigabyte selection of HD or AC97. After checking once more the BIOS settings I found that in Award BIOS the selection of audio function is in "Integrated Peripherals" under "Azalia Codec". The default value is "Auto" which obviously can determine whether HD or AC97 is used by sensing certain pins in the connector. The other value that can be set for "Azalia Codec" is "Disabled" which probably means that AC97 usage is forced.
Based on this I would rule out the motherboard manual error from my previous post. This leaves me with either my hardware (motherboard, case internal cable or the front panel) is faulty, or Ubuntu 8.04 has a bug in HD support. -- Microphone bug in Ubuntu HDA_Intel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/37736 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
