Why would someone want this?

Because it's annoying to have to hit shift-x every time i close the
image viewer and open into another folder. Because it's a simple feature
that SHOULD be part of any image management program.

Not having this feature makes gthumb like the quicktime of linux image
viewers - circa 1998. Remember that? "Full screen" meant watching a
320x240 postage stamp centered in the middle of a 17" screen?

Enlarging an image doesn't always produce garbage anymore than watching
a 640x480 video on a 2580x1920 resolution monitor results in bad video.
And people DO use image viewers to "browse" images at full screen size.
If you are an adult, you should intuitively know why.

'nuff said.
