Public bug reported: Affects: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed
Description: "Add new printer" refuses to add a second networked LaserJet if it is same model and has only different IP. Steps to reproduce: 1) make a clean install of Edubuntu Dapper Flight 5 2) Log in and add first networked printer HP LaserJet 4000N. OK. 3) Notice that you cannot change the name of the printer, it is named after the driver e.g. "LaserJet-4000-Series-Postscript-(recommended)". This is not OK. I have several LaserJet 4000:s in this network. 4) Try to add another HP LaserJet 4000N that has different IP. Nothing happens. 5) Try to add another HP LaserJet 5000 (=different model). OK. 6) Open Firefox and go to Cups admin page http://localhost:631/. Here you can remove oddly named printers and install them all with the names you prefer.
