I want to inform you that I have also experienced this bug through Ubuntu 7.04 - 8.04 Beta, which I am using at the moment.
The bug looks like this: You start a song, it plays till one second before the end and from that point on hangs. The status is not changed to "stop" or anything, it is still "playing" but it will never play the next song.
