Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem-xine
While installing totem-xine with sudo apt-get install libdvdread3 libxine1-ffmpeg totem-xine build-essential debhelper fakeroot totem-xine issues following messages: Configuration file `/etc/sysctl.conf' ==> Modified (by you or by a script) since installation. ==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version. What would you like to do about it ? Your options are: Y or I : install the package maintainer's version N or O : keep your currently-installed version D : show the differences between the versions Z : background this process to examine the situation The default action is to keep your current version. The default is N which is ok, but it would be better to do changes to sysctl.cfg if they are required in a more elegant way instead of just trying to overwrite systctl.cfg. E.g. via an install script or so that changes sysctl.cfg in a smart way. If I would have chosen Y my oracle parameters in systctl.cfg would have been deleted. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- totem xine overwrites /etc/sysctl.cfg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202805 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
